This week's band is
RIZE! This Japanese rap-rock band was formed in 1997, but they made
their debut in 2000. RIZE is also a band who combines a lot of genres
to make their own original sound. They mix alternative rock, hard
rock, punk rock, hip-hop and even reggae elements. The band I could
compare them to is “Maximum the Hormone”.
Yes, this is another band
I got to know thanks to fade. The members of fade are friends with
the RIZE members. Not surprising since U:zo (Yellow Fried Chickenz)
is Jon's best friend and U:zo used to be the bassist for RIZE from
2001 to 2006. An other interesting fact is that all 3 members have a
parent that was successful in the music industry.
Vocalist Jesse also had
an other project besides RIZE. He started a hip-hop unit called
“E.D.O.”, which consisted out of a diverse group of rappers,
artists and some of Jesse's old high school friends. Jesse’s own
E.D.O solo project (THE BONEZ) received the most attention from
underground music critics. THE BONEZ has put out 6 singles in total.
Thanks to the E.D.O. project Jesse was also able to test his skills
as a film director. He produced the music video “Revolvers” and
received much attention from film and video critics.
Once again, it's up to
you to decide if they're worth listening to.
