T$UYO$HI (Ba.), K (Vo.), ZAX (Dr.) & PABLO (Gt.) |
Pay money To my Pain (abbreviated as P.T.P) consists of 4 experienced band members. Their sound can be described as a mix of screamo and hardcore, and their lyrics are exclusively in English. When vocalist K was asked to explain what the band name meant he answered that it means exactly what it says. His work was made when he felt dark or down so people literally payed to hear his pain. Similar bands are RIZE and coldrain.
On December
31, 2004, K left the group “Gun Dog” and started to look for
musicians to form P.T.P. The first member to join was
Hispanic-Japanese guitarist PABLO. He had started his career in 1999
with the band “GIRAFFE” and through the years he was also support
for “FAKE?”, “Oblivion Dust” and “Takui Nakajima”. JIN,
P.T.P's 2nd guitarist had produced groups “Rotten
Graffiti” and “Greeeen” (Greeeen's vocalist is JIN's brother).
Bassist T$UYO$HI was in “DRUG STORE COWBOY” and “Def Tech”.
Last but not least, drummer ZAX was a member of the group “Falon”.
Once the
band was formed, they began to produce songs by themselves. It didn't
take long before they got noticed by record label “VAP”. P.T.P's
first major maxi-single, “Drop of ink”, was released on December
6, 2006. A couple of months later they went to California to record
their first album “Another day comes”. The album was released on
September 12, 2007. The album got a great deal of exposure. The song
“Home” was used as the ending theme for the anime “Buzzer
Beater” and “Another Day Comes” was also used as an ending
song, but for the series “Ultraseven X”. The song “Paralyzed
Ocean” was chosen to be the opening theme for the drama “The Quiz
Show”. In October they held a nationwide tour in Japan.
In 2008,
P.T.P released the EP “Writing in the diary”. Again, some of the
songs would be used for television and also a video game. Sadly
enough, JIN left the band in April 2008.
The
following 2 years brought even more releases and tours. Song “Bury”
was used as the opening theme for the anime “One Outs”. "The
Answer is Not in the TV", was featured in the Konami video game
“Pro Evolution Soccer 2010”. On January 26, 2011, P.T.P released
album “Remember the name”, which claimed the #15 spot on the
Oricon charts. It's still the highest rank they achieved up until
this day.
On August
10, 2011, the band performed along with “Lynch.” at a charity
event called “Shikiyakou -Shikui-”, which was hosted by band
“Dead End”. All earnings were donated to the victims of the
Tohoku disaster on March 11.
In 2012 the
band participated in the second tribute album to “BUCK-TICK”.
They also released their first best-of album and planned to have a
one-man tour. However, in October it was announced that the tour
would be cancelled and that all activities would be put on hold. The
reason for this was K's health. He had been facing ongoing health-
and mental issues and needed time to recover.
January 10,
2013, was a sad day for P.T.P fans. Their was an announcement on the
official website that K had passed away on December 30, 2012, due to
acute heart failure in his Yokohama home. The band plans to release a
new album with songs that K recorded before his death.
