Kazuya & Naoya |
“Vampire
Knight” fans will surely recognize these twin brothers. The two
young men form a J-pop unit called “ON/OFF”. Even though they
made several songs for popular anime, their fanbase is quite small.
Similar artists are WaT and Yuuta Furukawa (古川
雄大).
Kazuya and
Naoya Sakamoto were born on December 10, 1983 in Fukuoka. Naoya is
the oldest of the two brothers. The duo released their first indie
single on January 26, 2007. The title of the single was “Yokogao”,
which can be translated as “face in profile”. Near the end of the
year, on November 21, they made their major debut under “Sony Music
Entertainment”. The titular song of single “Eien no Setsuna”
was used as the ending theme of the live-action version of “Fūma
no Kojirō”. The guys were also a part of the cast for the drama
series. “Eien no Setsuna” peaked at #59 in the Oricon charts.
The next
year, 2008, a second single followed. “Futatsu no Kodō to Akai
Tsumi” was released on June 4. This single had more success since
it claimed the #19 spot on the Oricon charts. The titular song was
used as the opening theme for the first season of the anime series
“Vampire Knight”. They ended 2008 with the release of single
“Rinne Rondo (輪廻 -ロンド-)”
on October 15. Once again the song was used as the opening theme for
Vampire Knight, but this time it was for the second season.
On March 4,
2009, an other single release followed. “Hana Kagari” was the
last release before ON/OFF's first album release. “Legend of Twins
I: Futago Densetsu” went on sale on April 22. A year later, on June
9, 2010, the single “Butterfly” was released. It was featured in
the anime series “Durarara!!” as the ending theme. In 2011 two
new singles and an album followed. “Hajimaru no wa, Sayonara” was
the second opening for anime series “Beelzebub”. It went on sale
on April 27, and was composed & produced by the popular J-Pop
artist Daisuke Asakura. The other single, “Akatsuki”, was
released on November 2. The year 2011 finished with the release of
the second album “Legend of Twins II : Zoku Futago Densetsu” on
December 7.
There were
no new releases in 2012, but was announced that a new album will be
released this year. “DICE” will be released on July 17, 2013.
