These guys have actually been around for a while, since 2004, but haven't really made a break-through outside Japan. Or did they?
Their song "DIVER" was used as a Naruto OP!
According to Mitsumura (the vocalist, far right on the photo above), the band's name refers to obstacles in life ("walls") and their ambition to overcome them.
To me, a philosophy like that is enough to make me want to check out a band.
They may not look like anything special, but their music proves that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Or a CD.
Their style is hard to define, it's a mix of several bands we know here in Europe.
It's rock, certainly, but not traditional J-Rock like you'd expect.
I would describe them as a mix of Plain White T's, Raccoon, Milow and Nickelback.
(Yes, I like Nickelback, deal with it haha)
They also go to great lengths to convey the message of their songs in their PVs.
In "Te wo tatake" the musicians dangle from whires, as if they were marionettes..
Their latest single 夏の大三角形 only came out on May 16th this year, and two days later, I found it in Akihabara!!
I would rate this band 9/10
for originality
quirkiness
and
music.
