Artist: GACKT
Single: No ni Saku Hana no You ni (野に咲く花のように)
Album: The Eleventh Day: Single Collection
This song came to life after GACKT had received a letter during All Night Nippon's late night radio show in 2006. A third year student of Hyogo Prefectural Maiko High School wrote that the disaster preparation department lacked members. People seemed to forget the importance of disaster preparation for earthquakes, so the student asked for GACKT's help. The artist himself had replied that it would be easy to support this cause, but maybe it was not needed most at that point. If the student worked hard and could meet the enrolment quota, GACKT would add a flower to his graduation.
In the end the quota was reached and GACKT kept his word. He sang "No ni Saku Hana no You ni" (written a few days before the ceremony) at the student's graduation ceremony. Since then it has become a tradition that GACKT would sing this song every year at the graduation of a random high school. The meaning behind it all is to give both the students and teachers a little push in the back. He always leaves the students with the same message: "Dreams aren't something you dream, but something to make come true. And to make a dream come true, is to push through with a strong will..."
